Scottish Highlands Estate

Having fallen in love with Perthshire many years ago, our client – who we have worked with several times before – has long known that this is where he’d like his family home to be.

Our client discovered a plot of land and enlisted the help of Adam Architecture to design a new build Georgian-style stately home in keeping with the local vernacular. In order to acquire planning permission for their new home, the clients were required to restore this 17-acre formal gardens designed by renonwed landscape designer Thomas Mawson.

Inside, a library, drawing room and dining room makes up the formal end of the house; as our client moves through the property it becomes more relaxed, with a kitchen, family breakfast dining space and snug. All five bedrooms will be on one level upstairs.

Knowing our client so well means that we are familiar with his interior design taste – which includes plenty of bold colours and patterns. Our task is to strike a balance between creating a fun character that nods to Scotland while respecting the aesthetic of the architecture.
